The Waiting: 3 Things to Remember

If you know me, you know I’m a not a patient dude. For real, I think my greatest nuggets of wisdom can come from this subject because I feel like I have a LOT of experience in it.

There are a lot of things that happen in life. A lot of things that happen in the waiting for the next big thing, big project, big job, stage of life, season or trend… etc. Particularly, I want to focus on 3 things.

1. Self awareness and self discernment. When circumstances around you are overwhelming, you really need to slow down and start to ask yourself where do you fall in the circumstances? Did you cause them? Are you an active member or player in the fabric of what’s happening? Have you been a bystander or are you being blindsided? Many of my most profound moments have come from answering these questions.

2. Try your best not to make a move right away. For an outfielder in the major leagues, a lot can happen from the crack of the bat to the catching of the ball in the air. There is always a moment of discipline to not make a move until you know which move to make. Instinct and intuition should flow nicely here as sometimes the first move you make in the waiting is the most critical.

3. Wait. Profound right? Seriously though, actually do the waiting part. Allow things to come to you. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. You’ll arrive just as you were meant to at the time you were meant to, so don’t rush it. Enjoy the waiting. It’s fun, electric, and after all, it’s nice to know that your heart is still beating.
