I think one of the things that people often forget about when they read about Daniel and the Lion’s Den is that Daniel actually had to be in there before God delivered him from the lions. I have found myself reading stories and have come to a not so novel discovery; God does not work on our clock. The not so surprising and admittedly humorous fact in that last statement is that no one reading this wrote that previous statement down. If you did write that down, we can at least agree that it was not something new to you, maybe just different.
I often think about the stories of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. I have been doing a series as of late with the youth group and have found that in all three stories there is a high level of anticipation for the God moment, but often I fail to recall that it took 10 days of testing before the Chief official took away the king’s food, the furnace was heated seven times hotter and probably not fun to be thrown into, and the lion’s den was probably one of the darkest and coldest places Daniel had ever slept. The question is not in these stories of whether God comes through or not, it is always about when He chooses to. I find myself challenging my thinking to not forget that sometimes, you go through a period of waiting before He rescues you from your situation.
I was just thinking about this today.

Food for thought: What is it that you need God to deliver you from? Are you working on His timing, or yours?
