An event happened last evening that no one really knows about. There was a group of individuals from my church that showed up to the place that I work to have their young adults get together there. I work at Old C’s, a place in Colorado that slings pizza with the best of them. I love it there. I love my managers and I love the people who I get to work with. I love the conversations that go on and the energy that my team and I get to be a part of. But last night, I loved something very different from the usual.
It was an extremely unique event. My buddy actually got up and did a fifteen to thirty minute sermon at Old C’s. It was not the sermon that was unique. It was not the atmosphere either. It was the fact that there were a large amount of Christians sharing their testimony by their actions. The waitress was more than capable of performing all duties required of her, but what I noticed was the group of young Christian adults take advantage of every moment and opportunity they could to help that waitress obtain her goal. They even pre-bussed the tables for her, which could literally take up to thirty minutes to get done alone. They stacked all of the plates, cups, and silverware. They let the waitress know their appreciation and honestly they probably changed the waitress’ world last night in a small way.
As Christians, sometimes we get into this thinking paradigm that we are supposed to do all of these miraculous things in order to win people to Christ and to share our testimony. Sometimes, all it takes is a little act of kindness to break the stereotypes that some have of Christians. I hope this group continues to break the stereotype. I also hope that Old C’s knows how much I love them.

Food for thought: What stereotypes do you have of Christians? Yes, even if you are a Christian, you still have them. What would it look like if we did not buy into stereotypes, and we started to get to know the real people? I wonder…
