The other day I was playing some kick around with one of my good friends. We were just getting out and enjoying the sunshine while having a shoot around. He and I got caught up playing in a pick up game with a group of guys that spoke mainly Spanish.
As I was playing, I could not help but notice that no matter what they were saying in Spanish, which I do not speak or understand, I knew exactly what they were talking about. I knew what they wanted me to do, I knew where they wanted me to make the run, I understood what they needed from me.
I was, unexpectedly in a defining moment for me. Maybe not as defining as some moments have been, like with a previous post when I talked about my buddy Sam calling me out. Nonetheless, it was a beautiful thing.
I began to ask myself the certain questions. If something like soccer, which is a beautiful sport when played correctly, can transcend something as core as language, what else could do that? I have a theory, but I would not mind hearing yours!

Food for thought: Ever get lost in translation? Would it not be awesome if there were certain things that transcended language that are a little more meaningful than a the game of futbol? It was an awesome experience. Thanks to the guys for letting me join.
