I was reading in Titus the other day. What a great letter written from Paul to Titus. Great simply because you can see how much of a mentor Paul was for Titus. There was a job that needed to be done, and Paul encouraged, led, and strengthened Titus’ resolve.
I read through the whole chapter, but the one thing that got me thinking the most is this simple phrase in my study Bible (NIV). The phrase read simply: who you are is just as important as what you can do.
WOW! I know professional athletes, I know the tour coordinator for Lady Antebellum, I have led and walked with some of the wisest men on earth, and each would profess this many times over. I think the concept is simple; what you do, does not define who you are.
There really is not much more to say about it outside of this fact. What you do does not define who you are. So, naturally I question; who are you? What do people say when your name is brought up in a conversation? What is the mark you are leaving on those around you?
I spend a lot of my time with people who do not live as if tomorrow and today are connected. I assure you that the decisions you make today, are affecting your future tomorrow. One of those decisions is defined by the way you answer the questions stated. Who are you? Who do you want to be? Are they the same? How do you get from who you are, to who you want to be?
Worth thinking about.

Food for thought: Bring this post home, let it marinate in your heart. Let it swell up, and let it be fuel to push you to a better tomorrow.
Which is more important to you? Who you are, or what you do?

Great post, that is actually exactly what I put my senior quote as in my highschool year book.
I’ll have to read TItus again soon, thanks B!
