Don’t Hate the Player…

Have you ever met those people who are just full of life. It is almost as if they are bigger than life themselves, like there is just something they have their eye on that dares you to ask, “what is it about you that gets you up in the morning?” I have recently met one of those guys. He is one my newest friends and I just find myself asking, what is it that gets you up in the morning? Let me tell you, this guy has a lot going for him. He is smart, successful, extremely person oriented, great girlfriend, huge future…etc. But within 3.4 minutes of knowing him you realize that none of those are his inspiration to life. There is something more.

The best way I could describe it is that there has to be some sort of propellant for his rocket. You have met these people. In fact, you are probably thinking about that person right now telling yourself something like, oh yea… I would love to know what it is. I think I know.

When Jesus walked the earth, He was like a fly zapper. Go with me for a second or that can get kind of confusing and muddled. Jesus had this uncontrollable attraction. I would think he had a beat for life that was being pushed by something bigger than himself. People (the flies) would be attracted to him. It did not matter how hard you tried, there was just something about him. I would contest that it was because he was the Savior of the world, if he were here today, people would be just as attracted to him. Think about it! Twelve guys gave up their careers, lives, families, and all of a sudden it seems, followed him. People are going to be drawn to a light that bright. Some were zapped, in a good way. Other’s found the power to resist such amazing light, but everyone is attracted to it. The phrase, do not hate the player, hate the game comes to mind.

My buddy is simply bigger than life. Though he may be upset with me for making this comparison; he reminds me of Jesus a little more every day, and I thank God for that.

Food for thought: Do you not wish I were talking about you this way? What would it look like if we lived a life where people began to talk about us in this way? I bet… we just might… be able to change the world.
