You’re Not Alone

Home sweet homeAlright, alright, alright. Some of you are probably wondering what I am doing up at this hour typing to an empty computer screen. I am actually wondering the same thing. I cannot sleep tonight and there is just something in my heart stirring me to write this blog to you. I must say that I have been failing a little bit on the blogging and I vow to do a better job at updating my blog more frequently. I pray you forgive me, for I was busy due to the move, which I will explain in a second for everyone to catch up.

I am reading this book. It is called Sun Stand Still, by Steven Furtick. This guy is a phenomenal speaker. He is currently the pastor of one of the fastest growing churches in America (called Elevation Church). That is not what sets this guy into the selection of leaders that I admire. The main thing that sets him apart is his passion for Jesus. If you hear this guy talk for 2 minutes you will be so fired up and prepared to ask for the impossible from God. Did I mention that Steven is only a mere 30 years old. That may not be his exact age, he might be 31, but he’s relatively younger and constantly proving wrong those who say you cannot do great things when you are young.

Within his book, Furtick gives  a ton of advice on having an audacious faith. This is advice I simply cannot ignore, but I want to kind of go in to why it resonates so much with me right now. I recently left everything I have known and loved to chase a dream and a chance that I might be able to become a great impact for Jesus Christ in our world. With a semi-sure confidence, I leaped at the chance to serve the Kingdom of Christ by leaving home to go to Seminary in Colorado. It has been phenomenal. That is not my point. Through that leap, I have never felt as much angst, anxiety, insecurity, and quite honestly faith stretching potential as I have in the last month of my life. I had some fears before I left, and the more I get invested here, the fear of failure or inadequacies really plagues my thought paradigm. With all of the insecurity around me I latch to one important truth, God knows the plans he has for me.

The main reason I bring all of this up is because I know one of my “readers” in particular recently jumped out of the world of High School and she jumped into the great unknown offered in a University in Michigan. Regardless of her team preference she ventured to this University to ask one important question, among many; What is next? (I am sure you are reading this now and smiling miss reader).

I have an answer for you Miss Reader. An answer for you and everyone who is caught in this particular predicament. I do not know what is next, but one thing I do know is that if we press forward to honor our Lord Jesus Christ, you will be amazed as to what can come of that. I have always been a HUGE believer in walking the walk, not just talking the talk, so for you Miss Reader, and everyone else reading this who might just so happen to be in the same position as I, I say with a resounding desire of hope, you are not alone. Keep trucking, because you may never know how much God will do with someone like you.

Food for thought: Let this be a moment of encouragement as you chance the world and try to account for the unknown. You can do this. I have known many people in my life that have failed. None of them failed trying to do something that was God-inspired. Follow Him wherever he may lead you, and guard your heart so that you can discern His calling. I think if you can heed this food for thought, you will go further than you ever could on your own.

I fully recommend Steven Furtick’s Sun Stand Still. Follow the link above to order off of amazon.
