Getting Back

People are starting to worry. I have been worried for a while now.

Clinton was recommended no charges in a case where she was not only guilty, but clearly so. I read a review the other day that laws are forming to start telling churches what they have to change to make their church more “accepting”. A court judge says there is no reason to read the constitution and that it has no benefit in reading. And people are getting very upset.

Why? Why are you mad? This was the logical conclusion to an already bigger problem. We’re just starting to do the next logical thing in Western culture… We’re starting to treat the law of man the same way we’ve treated the Law of God for so many years. We’re treating the constitution like we treat the Bible. The bill of rights like we treated the ten commandments and people are wondering why things are off? It’s no wonder to me. We’ve not held to these laws because they aren’t convenient. We don’t like them because they have consequences if we don’t keep them.

We don’t believe in things the way we used to and have conviction to speak up when we don’t agree. Because Heaven forbid we say something offensive that would offend someone into critical thinking.

It’s been off for a long time. It’s not surprising to me that people are starting to worry.

I’m not the guy who gives out trophies to everyone who plays and I can’t read scripture and assess that everyone will just get in. We need to get back to our awe of God. See the book of Jeremiah if you’re curious about potential consequences of a nation who runs from God.

So how do we get back? Read scripture. Sit with people. Listen to them and don’t formulate what you’re going to say before they are done. Pray for this nation and its leaders. Don’t run from your viewpoint for the sake of someone’s feelings. Stand with your convictions and for goodness sake stop beating our chests in pride for things. Walk humbly and let’s engage in conversations that matter. Let’s hold each other accountable and quit shaming people who are trying to stand for what they believe in, which ever way they believe.

Respectfully engage in each other. You know… Like we used to.
