Being _________ Enough.

Every individual who has ever stepped into ministry has or will have a story of something they wish they could do over, get back or have maybe had the opportunity to try again. I am not different. I have recently watched friends turn away from what they believe in hopes to follow a specific thought processing paradigm or logic. I have seen individuals both near and far represent themselves in a way that is not how they envisioned themselves earlier in life. I have dealt with people/students who have felt hurt, pain and frustration and have not had the words or understanding to help them through such times. Yet, in those moments I understand very clearly one thing: I was not enough.

Let me explain as I do not hold the ideology that I am responsible for the choices individuals make. I do not believe that I am and do not put myself down for decisions that are beyond my control. But I do feel like through the years, especially with some of these individuals, whom I love dearly, I was not enough. Maybe I was not challenging enough, or wise enough, or smart enough, caring enough, tough enough, loving enough, confident enough, studying enough, talking enough or listening enough. Maybe I just did not do enough. In the midst of this moment of self-evaluation I want you to know that for this, I am sorry. I am sorry I was not ________ enough. I am sorry if there was ever a moment where I may have led you the wrong way or not pushed you in the right way.

Regardless of our friendship, who I am, who you are, or the fact that in reality, I was not enough; please allow me the one last word to tell you that Jesus is enough. He’s the most capable and fulfilling and the greatest phenomenon that has ever crossed the horizon. The best and most whole description of him was done by Dr. S.M. Lockridge in his video That’s My King.

So for those of you who are never going to be enough alone, maybe time to stop trying and start figuring out the One who can truly help you fill that gap:  Jesus.

Food for thought: Do not let someone on earth dictate your future in Heaven. Figure it out for yourself. Hint: it all revolves around the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
