There are two things I absolutely cannot stand. They frustrate me so badly. The first is when students and people in general (friends, peers, acquaintances… etc) do not live up to their potential. Find something that makes you feel or something that makes you feel like there is injustice going on in this area you need this thing to change. Get a passion! Find something that is wrong in the world (make it something that matters) and that bothers you to the nth degree. Found it? Good. Now ask the question: how can I help be a part of the solution? This is not difficult. You have permission to live for something other than yourself and your selfishness. As a matter of fact, if you are a disciple of Jesus; He modeled this approach. Follow suit.
The other thing that I cannot stand is when people are fake. This is typically someone that we call hypocritical where I come from. They act one way around you, and act another way around them, and act another way at work, and another way at home, and another way… you get the picture. They do this thinking they are fooling everyone into believing a lie. Acting as if we do not know you are being fake. A resounding “Seriously?” eventually comes out. You are not the master of disguise, so quit with the charade. It looks exhausting.
These two things drive me absolutely crazy. If you are going to be a disciple of Jesus, be all in. Do not come and go like the wind and jump in when it is convenient or when things are going wrong in your life. Do not be lukewarm. It is frustrating.
Maybe I am the only one, but if these two things were ever said about me, it would be devastating. How do some individuals not live in that same tension?

Food for thought: Don’t like the truth? Make it not true of you.
