Just reading in in Proverbs today about discipline. I cannot get enough of Proverbs. There is one verse today that stood out to me: Proverbs 10:17 says, “He who heeds discipline shows the way of life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray”. This verse was like a bomb. As a leader, no doubt, I am responsible for those who are following me. Not only am I responsible for them, I am responsible to them. This is a burden that cannot be passed on. It is my/your weight of leadership.
What would it look like if I thought I knew everything? What would it look like if I thought that I did not need any help? I will tell you. It would look devastating. Once more, that devastation would not be mine alone, but it would be shared by those who follow me. Which means that my devastation would probably branch out to those I care about most. KEEP IN MIND IT IS NOT INTENTIONAL DEVASTATION, BUT IT IS IMPACTING DEVASTATION.
As a leader, it is important to understand how important discipline and correction are to your leadership. As we lead, there is ALWAYS going to be someone in the room that has a little more experience than you do. My suggestion would be that you listen to that voice, no matter who they are, or their age. If you are in a room by yourself, then go out and find that voice. BE INTENTIONAL. He who heeds discipline shows the way of life, but whoever ignores correction will lead others astray.
Do not be that leader that ignores correction.

Food for thought: Think of how you handle correction, and be honest with yourself. Then ask yourself, is there anyone I am leading that could be negatively impacted by my inability to handle this correction? If so, try your very hardest to figure out what has to be done to change your ability to listen to correction.
Chew harder: I bet if you struggle it is because of one of four reasons: you are jealous, you are angry, you are guilty, or you are greedy. These are poisons to the heart and need to be identified and eradicated as soon as possible.
