Who we are

This should be short and sweet.

We do a lot of talking about what it means to be a Christian, but we never talk about what it means to be a disciple. The word christian is not a phrase often used in Scripture. When it is used, it is used by people outside of the believers as a derogatory phrase. It was basically an insult. The word disciple, however, is used all of the time.

Disciples are men and women who strive to learn from a teacher. The teachers teaching consumes them. Disciples should be the goal of who we want to be. The best way to show that we are disciples is to study and do what our teacher did. Well, if you are a disciple of Jesus; he loved.

I bounce this question around a lot… “How did Jesus treat Judas, knowing that Judas would soon betray Him?” After careful study of the Scripture and my best interpretation of the man that Jesus was I bet it was a very simple, yet not so easy to understand, concept… I bet Jesus loved him.

Food for thought: Are you a Christian or are you a Disciple? Do you truly love as Jesus loved? Two questions that I took some time to answer for myself.
