Celebrating the Wins

Something that is becoming more and more important to me is the idea of celebrating the wins for your mentoring. When you are mentoring, you will never know how much of an impact you will have on the world of the individuals you are mentoring.

I recall one of the guys I mentor. He recently received the award for Big Brother of the Year in the Big Brother’s Big Sister’s program. THIS IS A HUGE DEAL! You may be reading and say something like, so what?

I will tell you the truth. For a man to have come where this guy has come from, to be challenged in the ways I have challenged him, to receive some verbal, physical, and public recognition for a job well done, there is no better moment to celebrate a win.

When we celebrate a win, we acknowledge two things. 1) It was not easy to get to the win. 2) The win was earned, not charitable.

I think celebrating wins is equally as important as consistency.

If you are reading my friend, this is another shout out to your recent victory. However big or small, I am pulling for you! Congrats!

Food for Thought: As a mentor, where can you leverage your skills and talents to help the person you are mentoring be able to have a victory over a barrier in their life? Do not waste time thinking of it any longer; do those things.
